Corona virus patients with a sufficient amount of vitamin D are at a 52 per cent lower risk of death. A new study has found this. This study was conducted by resertures at Boston University in the United States.Reserchers have come to know that patients with adequate vitamin D content have halved the risk of death after being admitted to the hospital. The risk of falling seriously was also found to be 13 per cent lower due to vitamin D.
On an average, 42 per cent of Americans are found to have vitamin D deficiency. Even in black and elderly people, there is comparatively higher vitamin D deficiency and such people are suffering more from the corona.
Earlier, Boston University's Michael Hollic had discovered in a research that people with sufficient vitamin D are 54 per cent less at risk of being infected with the corona virus.
In the move forward to the previous study, scientists found new information about corona patients and vitamin D relationships. Holic's team had sampled 235 corona patients from a Tehran hospital. In a total of 67 per cent of patients had less than 30 ng/mL.
The expert says that even those suffering from other diseases have low vitamin D content, so it is difficult to say clearly how many lives could have been saved if there was no vitamin D deficiency.
